PPS Administrator Baek Seung-bo Visits Traditional Market and Social Welfare Facilities Ahead of Chuseok

[Financial News] Ahead of Chuseok, the Public Procurement Service launched an on-site outreach effort focused on people's livelihoods and a community giving campaign.
 To promote livelihood stability and revitalize the local economy, the PPS purchased holiday goods at Taepyeong Traditional Market in Jung-gu, Daejeon, on the 22nd and delivered them to local social welfare facilities.
 Using Onnuri Gift Certificates, Baek Seung-bo, administrator of the PPS, personally purchased fruit, meat, and other goods for delivery to welfare facilities. He then checked prices and supply-and-demand trends for key Chuseok staples, while meeting merchants to hear about local economic conditions and their difficulties.
 The PPS's visit was part of its ongoing community service activities, rather than a one-off event. Since forming a sister relationship with Taepyeong Traditional Market in 2011, the PPS has visited the market every holiday season for 16 years, taking the lead in encouraging visits to traditional markets and revitalizing the local commercial district.
 After visiting the traditional market, Baek visited Jeongnimwon, a child-rearing facility in Daejeon, delivered the goods purchased at Taepyeong Market, and encouraged staff members. The PPS has continued to provide regular support to six social welfare facilities in Daejeon, including Jeongnimwon, Seongsimwon, Hanmom, Seongse Rehabilitation Center, Daejeon Mental Care Facility, and Daejeon Comprehensive Welfare Center for Migrant Foreigners.
 Baek said, "I hope local businesses regain vitality during Chuseok and that marginalized neighbors around us can feel the warmth of community. Going forward, the PPS will continue to take the lead in spreading a culture of mutual prosperity and putting neighborly love into practice through sustained attention and sharing for local small-business owners and neighbors facing hardship."
 Meanwhile, in addition to visiting sites around the holidays, the PPS is implementing measures ahead of Chuseok to ease financial difficulties for small businesses and other financially vulnerable contracting parties, including the early payment of public procurement funds and streamlined procedures for advance payments. By swiftly disbursing procurement payments before the holiday, it is helping the companies concerned maintain cash flow and supporting local small businesses and merchants so they can ease their financial burden in practical terms.
