North Jeolla Province, Gyeongsangbuk-do, and South Gyeongsang Province to become 'Physical AI' hubs... Financial Services Commission Chairman pledges support

[Financial News] Financial Services Commission Chairman Lee Eok-won stated, "The Financial Services Commission (FSC) will actively support companies so that their challenges lead beyond technology development to commercialization and growth, and so that regional manufacturing sites are reborn as core hubs for physical artificial intelligence."
Chairman Lee stated this during his congratulatory remarks at the 'Physical AI Regional Hub Development Forum' held at the Korea Development Bank (KDB) headquarters in Yeouido, Seoul, on the 22nd, adding, "For Physical AI to spread rapidly to actual industrial sites, the role of finance in supporting bold corporate investments is also important." This event was organized to support the promotion of the three major mega-projects (semiconductors, data centers, and Physical AI) and to foster a regional hub-centered Physical AI industry ecosystem by combining the manufacturing bases of North Jeolla Province, Gyeongsangbuk-do, and South Gyeongsang Province with Physical AI technology.
Chairman Lee watched a humanoid robot dancing to the song 'REDRED' by the idol group CORTIS in the Physical AI Experience Zone. A robot hand equipped with tactile sensors, positioned right next to it, mimicked the movements of a human hand.
Chairman Lee subsequently signed a 'Memorandum of Understanding for the Development of Regional Hubs for Physical AI' with local governments, policy financial institutions, and regional banks. At the event, Chairman Lee stated, "Last June, the government announced the three major mega-projects for Korea's Great Leap Forward and is fostering physical AI as a core strategic industry, along with semiconductors and AI data centers."
He said, "North Jeolla Province, Gyeongsangbuk-do, and South Gyeongsang Province are home to Korea's representative manufacturing bases," adding, "If AI and robot technologies are added to these regional strengths, each region will grow into a new industrial hub leading the development and commercialization of physical AI technology."
Park Sang-jin, Chairman of Korea Development Bank (KDB), emphasized, "Through physical AI, the manufacturing paradigm is shifting toward the intelligence of the entire process," adding, "KDB will become the starting point of Korea's physical AI industry map by connecting corporate technological capabilities and finance with the accumulated industrial infrastructure of North Jeolla Province, Gyeongsangbuk-do, and South Gyeongsang Province."
