Rapper 'Kim Gam-jeon' Sent to Prosecutors in Custody for Alleged Cannabis Use While on Probation

[Financial News] Rapper Kim Gam-jeon, whose real name is Kim Sang-min, 22, was sentenced to probation for smoking cannabis and has now been detained and sent to prosecutors on suspicion of using cannabis again while on probation. According to police on the 22nd, Seoul Mapo Police Station transferred Kim, who is accused of violating the Narcotics Control Act (cannabis), to the Seoul Western District Prosecutors' Office in custody. Kim is suspected of using liquid cannabis. Police obtained an arrest warrant from the court, arrested Kim on the 14th, and requested a detention warrant the following day.
The Seoul Western District Court issued a detention warrant for Kim on the 16th, saying, "There is a risk that he may flee or destroy evidence."
Kim was previously accused of smoking cannabis with an acquaintance in a parking lot in Seoul in May 2024. He was sentenced to eight months in prison at his first trial in December of that year and taken into custody. The court pointed out that he had committed the offense again despite previously receiving a suspension of indictment for a similar offense.
Kim was later given a reduced sentence of eight months in prison with a two-year suspended sentence on appeal and was released in April last year.
Kim drew attention for lyrics from a song released in April that said, "Put it in the toilet and flush," and he also applied this year to appear on Mnet's hip-hop competition show 'Show Me the Money 12.'
