Gumi City's Ninth Elected Administration Reorganizes Government, Focusing on Economic and Industrial Innovation

【Financial News | Gumi: Reporter Kim Jang-wook】Gumi City will carry out an organizational reorganization effective October 1 to improve the implementation of key policies under its ninth popularly elected administration and deliver administrative results that residents can feel.
According to the city, the reorganization will focus administrative capacity on economic innovation to restore the local economy and on industrial innovation to secure future growth engines. It will also reorganize rural and agricultural functions and strengthen field-based administrative services closely connected to residents' daily lives.
Accordingly, the city will establish and reorganize a fourth-level temporary organization, the Neighborhood Commercial District Support Task Force, and fifth-level bodies including the AI and Robotics Industry Division. The administrative organization will operate with one office, one task force, nine bureaus, three directly affiliated agencies, and eight business offices.
Mayor Kim Jang-ho said, "This reorganization is a decision to restore the local economy, foster future high-tech industries, strengthen rural and agricultural competitiveness, and complete field-oriented administrative services directly tied to residents' daily lives." He emphasized, "Based on the newly reorganized government structure and administrative capabilities, we will swiftly implement the key policies of the ninth popularly elected administration and deliver tangible results that residents can feel."
First, the city will establish the fourth-level temporary Neighborhood Commercial District Support Task Force to provide more systematic support for small business owners and self-employed people struggling with the prolonged economic slowdown. The task force will oversee the Neighborhood Economy Division and the Market Commercial District Support Division.
The existing Economic Bureau will be renamed the Startup Economy Bureau, while the existing Business Support Division will be reorganized as the Startup Economy Division. This will strengthen support throughout the entire business life cycle, from the startup stage through growth and expansion, while building a technology startup ecosystem linking startup spaces, funding, and investment. The city aims to establish a foundation for Gumi's transformation into a leading technology startup city.
The organization responsible for advanced industries, a future growth engine for Gumi, will also be significantly strengthened. To respond to large-scale corporate investment and changes in the industrial environment, the existing New Industry Policy Division will be reorganized as the AI and Robotics Industry Division. The city will lead manufacturing innovation based on artificial intelligence and robotics and work to transform Gumi into a hub for AI and robotics convergence industries.
The Energy Industry Division will also be newly established to oversee energy policy. Energy-related duties previously handled at the team level will be expanded to the division level, enabling the city to respond to energy demand in residents' daily lives and industrial sites through policy planning, the development of new industries, facility expansion, and increased energy supplies for everyday life. The move will also strengthen the administrative foundation for the future energy transition.
To ensure the stable implementation of the integrated medical and long-term care program launched in March, the city will increase the number of dedicated integrated care staff at City Hall and in each eup, myeon, and dong. Six staff members will be assigned to the Senior Welfare Division, the dedicated department at City Hall, while 25 staff members—one each at 25 local administrative offices—will be deployed to improve on-site responses to integrated care services for local residents.
