MOIS Provides KRW 18.1 Billion in Special Disaster and Safety Allocation to South Gyeongsang Province for Torrential Rain Recovery

[Financial News] The Ministry of the Interior and Safety (MOIS) will provide KRW 18.1 billion in special local allocation tax for disaster and safety management to restore public facilities in South Gyeongsang Province damaged by torrential rain in August.
MOIS announced on the 22nd that it would provide the special local allocation tax to ease the recovery costs borne by local governments in South Gyeongsang Province that were damaged by torrential rain from the 15th to the 18th of last month.
The funds will be used to restore river and stream embankments and road slopes that were washed away or collapsed by the rain, as well as to repair public facilities such as parks and sports facilities damaged by flooding.
MOIS previously provided KRW 8.7 billion for emergency restoration and measures to prevent secondary damage in areas affected by torrential rain in July and August. This time, the focus is on supplementing the local governments' financial burden for restoring damaged public facilities beyond emergency measures.
Yun Ho-jung, Minister of the Interior and Safety, said, "I hope this support will ease the financial burden on the affected areas and help restore public facilities as quickly as possible." He added, "We will work closely with local governments and other relevant agencies to ensure that recovery projects proceed without disruption."
