GS Entec Expands Floating Offshore Wind Business Through Technical Cooperation with MunmuBaram

[Financial News] GS Entec, a GS Group company specializing in offshore wind substructures, is expanding into the floating offshore wind market. The company will work with MunmuBaram, the Korean operating entity of Sweden's Hexicon, to manufacture mooring pile structures for a floating offshore wind project in Ulsan and establish a supply chain.
GS Entec announced on the 22nd that it had signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with MunmuBaram for the supply of mooring pile structures and technical cooperation for a floating offshore wind farm.
The agreement was pursued as part of the Korea-Sweden Offshore Wind Supply Chain Cooperation Day event, co-hosted by the Swedish Trade and Invest Council in Korea, the Embassy of Sweden in Korea, and MunmuBaram.
The MunmuBaram project is a 750-megawatt (MW) floating offshore wind power project being developed by Hexicon in waters approximately 65 to 80 kilometers east of Ulsan. It plans to install 50 floating units.
Based in Ulsan, GS Entec will work with MunmuBaram to optimize the manufacturing of mooring pile structures for floating offshore wind power, exchange technical information, and establish a supply chain capable of making timely deliveries.
A GS Entec official said, "Because floating offshore wind power requires a wide range of equipment, including floating platforms, mooring systems, and subsea cables, we expect it to create synergies in building a local ecosystem of related industries."
