Korea Local Administration Mutual Aid Association Expands Community Outreach by Donating Even Unused Business-Trip Miles

[Financial News] The Korea Local Administration Mutual Aid Association has put employees’ accumulated business-trip airline miles to use for community service. The move has drawn attention because it redirected idle resources generated through routine business activities into a source of donations, going beyond simple cash contributions.
According to the association on the 22nd, Director Baek Il-heon visited Haeoreumville, a welfare facility for single-mother families in Seoul’s Yongsan District, on the 21st and delivered KRW 3 million through the Yongsan Welfare Foundation. The association also provided essential goods purchased with airline miles accumulated during employees’ business trips.
Established in 1953, Haeoreumville is a welfare facility that supports the stability and independence of single-mother families. Twenty households currently live there. The latest support was organized to provide practical assistance to vulnerable members of the local community ahead of the holiday season.
In the mutual aid and pension fund sectors, observers say that community service is increasingly judged not only by the size of donations but also by how institutions use the resources they possess. An official in the investment banking industry said, "Even assets with limited uses, such as business-trip miles, can be linked to community service to expand the scope of support without significantly increasing costs." The official added, "It is meaningful as a form of community service closely tied to everyday needs and tailored to an institution’s characteristics." 
Meanwhile, the Korea Local Administration Mutual Aid Association has continued providing donations and volunteer services to local governments and communities affected by disasters. It plans to expand community-linked sharing activities by using not only cash donations but also a range of resources held by the institution.
