[Financial News] An experiential event showcasing Coupang's private-brand (PB) products and small and midsize manufacturers attracted about 6,000 visitors over four days and concluded successfully.
According to Coupang on the 22nd, its affiliate CPLB, which oversees the private-brand (PB) business, held the 'Coupang Only Festa' in Seongsu-dong, Seoul, from the 17th to the 20th. With advance reservations filling up early, about 6,000 people visited the venue over the four days to experience Coupang's PB products and goods made by small and midsize manufacturers from across the country.
The event featured about 600 popular Coupang PB products, including gomgom, comet and Tamsa, as well as about 100 own-brand (NB) products from small and midsize manufacturers. Approximately 1,980 square meters of exhibition space covered an outdoor area and the first and second floors of the building.
Visitors explored the products through a range of programs, comparing the materials and textures of food and household items such as rice, mixed grains and wallpaper. CPLB dedicated the entire 1.5-floor level to brands from small and midsize manufacturers, allowing them to showcase products they had planned and developed themselves.
The participating manufacturers met consumers in person to promote their products and brands and gather feedback. Seo Beom-jun, CEO of Pureuon, which produces gomgom dumplings and fried rice, said, "It was a valuable opportunity to meet consumers directly and hear their feedback. Direct communication with customers should be a great help in product development and other areas."
Shin Gwon-sik, an executive director at SC Korea, which supplies comet zipper bags and parchment paper, stated, "We have had few opportunities to directly show consumers the manufacturing competitiveness we have built through our expertise, so this event was meaningful. As we have continued to expand our investments in facilities, employment and employee welfare while growing with Coupang, we will work to present even better products."
A food-tasting event was also held. At 'gomgom Restaurant,' which operated outdoors on the evenings of the 18th and 19th, visitors sampled meat and vegetables, tteokbokki rice cakes, dumplings and sauces from the gomgom brand produced by various manufacturers. Over the weekend, the venue attracted a diverse range of visitors, including families with children and foreign tourists.
CPLB plans to consider ways to expand contact points between manufacturers and customers based on the results of the event.
Jeon Gyeong-su, CEO of CPLB, said, "This event was especially meaningful because we were able to showcase not only a diverse range of PB products, but also the brands and outstanding technological capabilities of the small and midsize manufacturers that make them with us. We will continue to listen closely to the voices of our customers and partners and expand opportunities for competitive small and midsize manufacturers to introduce their excellent products and technological capabilities to more consumers."
