Village Bus Fleet to Increase in Gangseo District for the First Time in 17 Years

[Financial News] Four additional village buses will be deployed for the first time in 17 years to address public transportation difficulties in Busan Eco Delta City, Gangseo District.
According to Busan on the 24th, a public notice for selecting a contractor for the operation of village bus routes and the integrated management system in Busan Eco Delta City will be issued on the 30th. Under the project, village buses that have not been operating for an extended period elsewhere in Busan will be incorporated into the Gangseo-area village bus integrated management system and assigned to new routes in Busan Eco Delta City.
Four village buses will be added. They will operate on a single route connecting Busan Eco Delta City and Gangseo-gu Office. The specific route, stops and service intervals will be determined after a comprehensive review of the business plan submitted by the transportation operator and the actual operating conditions.
There are currently 64 village buses operating in Gangseo District. The number of buses has remained unchanged since Busan, Gangseo District and the village bus association signed an agreement in 2010 to implement the Gangseo-area village bus integrated management system.
However, as more residents have moved into apartment complexes in Busan Eco Delta City, demand for public transportation has increased, particularly for commuting and school travel. Calls from residents to expand bus routes and the number of operating vehicles have consequently grown. In response, the district discussed measures to expand public transportation in Busan Eco Delta City with the city, leading to the deployment of additional village buses.
The additional village buses will begin service after a transportation operator is selected, detailed routes are negotiated and residents' transportation needs are comprehensively reflected. A district official said, "We hope the increase in village buses will help improve public transportation conditions for residents of Busan Eco Delta City," adding, "We will coordinate details with the city to ensure the new route operates smoothly."
