[Breaking] Supreme Court of Korea Chief Justice Cho Hee-dae: "Cheong Wa Dae's Request for Renomination Lacks a Constitutional Basis... Unable to Comply"

[Financial News] The Supreme Court of Korea said in a media notice issued at noon on the 22nd that Chief Justice Cho Hee-dae had stated, "I hereby make clear that I cannot comply with the request for renomination."
The Supreme Court of Korea explained, "The only document related to this request for renomination is the 'Request for Renomination of a Supreme Court Justice Candidate' dated the 28th of last month." It added, "That document does not state specific reasons for requesting the renomination or its constitutional basis, and we can find no other specific constitutional grounds or reasons to justify the request for renomination." It then cited Article 82 of the Constitution, which states, "Acts of the President under law shall be carried out in documents countersigned by the Prime Minister and the relevant member of the State Council."
