[Financial News] KB Financial Group and the Korea Foundation for Cooperation of Large & Small Business, Rural Affairs (KOFCA) announced on the 22nd that they will implement the '2026 KB Financial Energy-Saving Facility Support Project' to help local small business owners achieve carbon neutrality and practice environmental, social, and governance (ESG) management.
The project was jointly planned by KB Financial Group and KOFCA to help reduce local small business owners' energy cost burden and improve their business environments. Using funds from the Green Transition (GX) sector of the Large and Small Business Mutual Growth and Cooperation Fund contributed by KB Financial Group, the project will support energy-saving initiatives proposed by up to four local governments, including metropolitan and basic local governments.
The total support amount is 600 million won, and selected regions will receive project funding ranging from a minimum of 100 million won to a maximum of 300 million won. The entire amount will be used for local small business owners, self-employed individuals, and other individual business operators so they can directly experience tangible benefits such as improved store environments and reduced electricity bills.
Local governments wishing to participate may freely develop ideas for 'energy self-sufficiency and infrastructure efficiency' that reflect the characteristics of their local commercial districts and submit proposals together with specialized agencies responsible for implementing them.
The main areas of support include 'Energy Efficiency Improvement,' involving the replacement of aging wiring or installation of high-efficiency LED signs; 'Eco-Friendly Facility Support,' involving the installation of eco-friendly heat pumps and cooking-smoke reduction devices; and 'Smart Energy Management,' involving the distribution of Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) and Internet of Things (IoT)-based outlets that cut off standby power.
In particular, local governments that contribute their own budgets to the Large and Small Business Mutual Growth and Cooperation Fund to participate in the project may receive five additional points during the selection process. This measure is intended to encourage local governments to take a more active interest in and participate in supporting local small business owners.
The application deadline is October 11. Local governments wishing to participate should submit their applications and related documents by email to KOFCA's ESG Support Department. The submitted proposals will undergo in-person evaluation by a steering committee composed of ESG experts, and the final selection results are scheduled to be announced in the third week of October.
