[Financial News] Korea National Railway said on the 22nd that it had carried out its '2026 Chuseok Sharing Campaign' from the 15th to the 22nd, visiting 18 welfare centers in six regions nationwide—Daejeon, Seoul, Busan, Gwangju, Wonju and Cheongju—to share warmth with neighbors in local communities ahead of Chuseok.
The initiative was undertaken as part of an enterprise-wide social contribution effort. Employees from the headquarters, Capital Area Regional Headquarters, GTX Regional Headquarters, Yeongnam Regional Headquarters, Honam Regional Headquarters, Chungcheong Regional Headquarters, Gangwon Regional Headquarters and the Facilities and Equipment Office participated, adding meaning to the campaign.
The railway authority's volunteer group visited welfare organizations supporting vulnerable members of local communities, including children, older adults and single-parent families. It delivered donations and goods worth a total of 21 million won. Beyond providing supplies, the group also carried out various volunteer activities by leveraging the capabilities of each regional headquarters, including serving meals, operating hands-on food booths and improving the surroundings of the facilities.
Korea National Railway Chairman Jung Jin-hyuk said, "I hope the small gesture we are sharing for Chuseok will offer warm comfort and strength to our neighbors in local communities," adding, "We will continue to spread the value of shared growth with local communities by sustaining enterprise-wide sharing activities."
Meanwhile, Korea National Railway is taking the lead in building a sustainable social contribution model that goes beyond one-off holiday donations and makes use of railway infrastructure. It is opening unused spaces on railway sites as cultural and welfare spaces for local residents, while also creating shared-growth spaces in railway stations where social enterprises and local small business owners can set up operations. Through these efforts, the public institution is fulfilling its social responsibilities in a variety of ways.
