[Financial News] Domestic semiconductor substrate stocks are surging as the U.S. semiconductor sector rallies.
As of 10:57 a.m. on the 22nd, Samsung Electro-Mechanics was trading at 1.518 million won, up 89,000 won, or 6.23%, from the previous trading day. LG Innotek was also trading at 555,000 won, up 36,000 won, or 6.94%, from the previous session.
Other substrate stocks also posted broad gains, with Korea Circuit up 28.30%, SIMMTECH up 16.07% and Daeduck Electronics up 15.11%.
The gains are attributed to spreading expectations of potential benefits after semiconductor stocks surged on the U.S. stock market amid expectations of stronger demand. Investor sentiment across the semiconductor sector improved after Meta Platforms' personal artificial intelligence (AI) agent, 'Meta Muse,' caused a sensation.
AI agents are expected to generate far more inference computing than chatbots, driving up demand for server CPUs. This, in turn, is expected to boost server expansion and demand for high-performance, high-specification components.
In overnight trading on the New York Stock Exchange, Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) closed 9.95% higher, reaching a record high. Intel and Arm Holdings also soared 12.14% and 17.16%, respectively.
