Hyundai Rotem to Bring Hyundai Motor's AI Factory Technology to Aerospace Base

[Financial News] Hyundai Rotem plans to introduce Hyundai Motor's artificial intelligence (AI)-based smart factory technology at its aerospace production base. The company aims to improve safety at production sites by automating high-risk processes while strengthening the quality competitiveness of aerospace engines and propulsion systems.
Hyundai Rotem announced on the 22nd that it recently signed a comprehensive technology cooperation memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Hyundai Motor to improve automation and safety at production sites. Under the agreement, the two companies will work together to build automated systems at Hyundai Rotem's aerospace facilities. In particular, Hyundai Motor's AI-based smart factory and automated production technologies, developed at its automotive production sites, will be applied to high-risk processes in the aerospace sector.
Hyundai Rotem plans to reduce workers' exposure to hazards while improving process stability and quality at the same time. Given the nature of aerospace products, safety accidents can disrupt research and development as well as production schedules. The initiative is intended to further strengthen safety management capabilities at production sites.
Hyundai Rotem is expanding its aerospace capabilities by carrying out technology development projects with the Agency for Defense Development (ADD) and the Korea Research Institute for Defense Technology Planning and Advancement (KRIT). The projects involve ducted ramjet engines, hypersonic engines, and methane engines for reusable launch vehicles. The company is also investing in production infrastructure. In March, Hyundai Rotem signed an investment agreement with Jeonbuk State and Muju County to establish an aerospace production base. By 2034, it plans to invest approximately 300 billion won to build an integrated aerospace production base with production and research and development capabilities.
A Hyundai Rotem official said, "The two companies' technological cooperation will serve as an opportunity to eliminate the risk of safety accidents at aerospace production sites. We will create a work environment with zero safety accidents by leveraging advanced unmanned technologies and ensure the smooth supply of engines and propulsion systems of impeccable quality."
