Nami Island, LEGOLAND and Chuncheon Samaksan Mountain Lake Cable Car... Chuseok Tourism Comes Alive in Chuncheon

[Financial News | Chuncheon = Kim Ki-seop, reporter] Tourism programs targeting families visiting Chuncheon will take place throughout the city during the Chuseok holiday, as autumn deepens. Busking performances at the top of the cable car and a LEGO spinning-top competition are among the attractions appealing to visitors of all ages.
According to Chuncheon on the 22nd, major attractions across the city—including Leesangwon Museum of Art, King Canoe Dock, Gamja Island, Play Jungle, Nami Island, LEGOLAND and Chuncheon Samaksan Mountain Lake Cable Car—will welcome tourists during the holiday from the 24th to the 26th. Happy Chowon Farm, Jade Garden and Gamjabat will remain open year-round along with their lodging facilities, while Samaksan Tourist Area, home to Deungseon Falls and Gugokpokpo Falls, will offer free admission throughout the holiday. Since closing days and operating hours vary by attraction, visitors are advised to check the details before setting out.
The Animation Museum and Toy Robot Studio offer the strongest taste of the holiday season. Under the theme "Hangawi Moonlight Playground," the two venues have prepared activities including wooden traditional lanterns, Chuseok food clay modeling, moonlight sand drawings, Chuseok wish-hanging and a moon-rabbit treasure hunt. Traditional games such as tuho, biseokchigi, spinning tops and yut nori will also allow the whole family to join in. The venues will be closed on September 25, Chuseok Day.


Visitors who want to test their handiwork can head to LEGOLAND. From the 24th to the 27th, the park will host the LEGO® Spinning Top Champion Challenge, in which participants compete based on how long their brick-built spinning tops keep turning. The competition is divided into the Children's Spinning Top Champion and Family Spinning Top Champion categories. Twenty teams will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis at the venue for each session, and the top three teams will receive spinning-top brick sets.
Visitors looking to enjoy the autumn atmosphere with music should keep an eye on Chuncheon Samaksan Mountain Lake Cable Car. Starting on the 26th and continuing through October 31, the cable car will host magic and music performances every Saturday from 2 p.m. for 90 minutes, using the B1 upper station at the summit as the stage. The performances will offer tourists traveling along the sky route a distinctive attraction.
Visitors should plan ahead for Chuseok Day. On the 25th, the Animation Museum, Kim You-jeong Literary Village, The Museum of Books and Printing, Chuncheon National Museum and Chuncheon Makguksu Museum will all be closed. Gangchon Rail Park and Mullegil Canoe will be closed in the morning before reopening in the afternoon, while Soyanggang Skywalk will operate on reduced hours—from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on the 24th and 25th.
Meanwhile, visitors looking to explore Chuncheon on a budget can use the Chuncheon Tour Pass, "Bring Your Ticket, Get a Discount," and Chuncheon City Tour.
