Geotechnical Investigation Service Begins for Western Busan Complex Industrial Complex Project

[Financial News] A geotechnical investigation will begin for the development of the Western Busan Complex Industrial Complex in the Gangdong-dong area of Gangseo District, Busan.
Busan Metropolitan Corporation (BMC; photo by Shin Chang-ho) said on the 22nd that it recently held a kickoff briefing for the geotechnical investigation service for the Western Busan Complex Industrial Complex Development Project.

The Western Busan Complex Industrial Complex is scheduled to be developed on an approximately 1.38 million-square-meter site in the area of Lot 135-1 in Gangdong-dong, Gangseo District.
Following the notice lifting the development restriction zone in December last year, BMC has been carrying out the industrial complex planning process in earnest since this year.
It is currently pursuing basic and detailed designs, along with environmental, traffic, and disaster impact assessments.
The service is being carried out to secure the basic data needed to establish the industrial complex plan and design its infrastructure.
At the briefing, participants shared the work plan and investigation methods and discussed ways to carry out the service more efficiently.
The service will focus on securing the reliability and safety of the designs by analyzing ground characteristics and groundwater conditions through drilling surveys and field and laboratory tests, as well as calculating appropriate geotechnical parameters.
After completing related administrative procedures, including obtaining consent for land use and filing notifications for excavation activities, field surveys and tests will be conducted in stages. The plan is to reflect the findings in soft-ground treatment and infrastructure design to reduce geotechnical risks in advance.
Lee Sang-yong, head of the Strategic Projects Division at BMC, said, "The Western Busan Complex Industrial Complex is an important project that will lay the foundation for Busan's future growth and lead new changes in western Busan. As geotechnical investigation is a key preliminary process that determines the safety and quality of an industrial complex, we will successfully carry out the project by producing highly reliable results that can be put to practical use in future design and construction."
