GS Engineering & Construction Conducts Pre-Deployment Robot Checks, Identifies Various Variables

[Financial News] GS Engineering & Construction has established a pre-validation center to test the performance of new technologies and construction robots before deploying them at actual sites. The facility is designed to test individual robots and identify in advance various variables that may arise during their application at construction sites.
According to GS Engineering & Construction on the 22nd, pre-validation (PoC) is effective for checking in advance the division of roles between workers and robots, work sequences, and travel routes.
The pre-validation center is currently testing various construction robots, including concrete leveling robots. The company is conducting in-house tests of the robots' work accuracy, productivity, and site application conditions, focusing on processes that require both quality and productivity, such as ensuring floor flatness after concrete is poured.
GS Engineering & Construction also plans to establish additional PoC centers with enhanced functions and expanded capacity. During the pre-validation stage, the company will comprehensively review factors such as reduced worker burdens resulting from fewer repetitive tasks, quality consistency, lower safety risks, the possibility of nighttime and unmanned operations, and compatibility with subsequent processes. It plans to establish a system that tests the technologies at actual sites and expands those proven effective to other locations.
GS Engineering & Construction also operates an Innovation Council (ICC), comprising relevant in-house departments, to systematically identify Embodied AI technologies. Through the ICC, the company identifies factors that reduce productivity at construction sites and technology needs, while exploring domestic and overseas startups and robotics and AI technologies that can address them. A GS Engineering & Construction official said, "Our goal is to enhance productivity and safety while improving cost competitiveness through this process."
