Inje Flower Paths, Yanggu Full Moon, High1 Drone Show... Gangwon's Fall Festivals Abound During Chuseok

【Financial News, Inje—Reporter Kim Ki-seop】A series of festivals and events offering a taste of autumn will be held across Gangwon State during the Chuseok holiday, which begins on the 24th. The lineup ranges from festivals featuring flower-filled paths and traditional cultural experiences centered on full-moon and star observation to drone shows lighting up the night sky. Family-oriented events that both returning residents and tourists can enjoy together are particularly notable.
◇Inje Autumn Flower Festival: "Let's Walk Only Flower Paths in Inje"
The 2026 Inje Autumn Flower Festival, a signature autumn event in Inje, has completed preparations to welcome visitors, a day before its opening. Inje County will hold the festival from the 24th through October 11, for 18 days, around the Buk-myeon Yongdae Tourist Site under the theme "Let's Walk Only Flower Paths in Inje." After attracting more than 300,000 visitors last year, the festival has further expanded its flower fields, rest areas, hands-on activities and performances this year.
The festival grounds will be arranged into themed areas including "Happiness Path," "Love Path," "Communication Path" and "Healing Path." The Happiness Path will feature the Park In-hwan Romantic Garden, created to mark the 100th anniversary of poet Park In-hwan's birth, with landscape sculptures inspired by his works and literary world set among chrysanthemums, Korean wild chrysanthemums and other autumn flowers. The approximately 31,000-square-meter Love Path will be filled with verbena, Korean wild chrysanthemums, cockscombs, petunias and sunflowers, along with photo zones and a chrysanthemum bonsai exhibition. Visitors can find a waterfall, floating sculptures and a slow mailbox along the waterside trail of the Communication Path, while the Healing Path in the pine forest offers a forest cafe, a treehouse and forest activities for young children.
Busking performances, special shows, a stamp tour and a nationwide sketching contest will take place throughout the festival. Stalls selling local agricultural and specialty products, chrysanthemums and food from food trucks will also operate. A special city tour route linking the festival grounds with the Yeocho Calligraphy Museum and Baekdamsa Temple will run on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays, but not on the 25th, the day of Chuseok. The festival grounds will be open free of charge every day from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Inje County aims to extend visitors' stays through the festival and connect them to local tourism and spending.
Kim Jeong-su, head of the festival team at the Inje Cultural Foundation, said, "We have prepared the Park In-hwan Romantic Garden, themed flower fields and a variety of hands-on programs more abundantly than last year. I hope visitors make beautiful autumn memories in Inje."

◇Geographic Center Yanggu Full Moon Festival: From Traditional Games to Star Observation
Yanggu County will hold the 2026 Geographic Center Yanggu Full Moon Festival for two days, from the 25th to the 26th, around the Center of Korea Observatory. All programs are free of charge. The 2026 Chuseok Traditional Culture Experience Festival will also take place through the 27th around the Yanggu Prehistoric and Modern and Contemporary History Museum, where visitors can enjoy traditional holiday games such as yut nori, tuho and jegichagi.
On the 24th, the eve of Chuseok, and on the 26th, visitors can try straw craft at the straw craft workshop and make leather key rings in front of Hamchun Jumak. During the day, activities will include making traditional lanterns, solar system bracelets and full-moon mood lights, as well as sand art and photo zones. Visitors who complete at least four activities will receive a souvenir. At night, the full moon and Saturn can be observed from the observatory's rooftop and observation room. An additional telescope will be installed on the lawn plaza for visitors accompanied by pets.
Park Hyeon-jeong, head of Yanggu County's Tourism and Culture Division, said, "We have prepared programs that all generations can enjoy, from traditional games such as yut nori to observing the full moon and Saturn. I hope returning residents and tourists create special Chuseok memories with their families."

◇High1 Resort's "Chuseok Festa": 500-Drone Show Lights Up the Night Sky
High1 Resort in Jeongseon County will hold High1 Chuseok Festa for four days, from the 24th to the 27th. The event will feature a 500-drone light show, performances for all generations, a local food market and wellness programs. Highlight shows featuring 500 drones lighting up the night sky will be held on the 25th and 26th. On the 24th, there will be a retro pop concert for three generations and a children's magic show, followed by a saxophone performance on the 26th. A bubble foam party at Water World Glass Pool, traditional games and a receipt roulette event will also be held throughout the holiday.
A Kangwon Land official said, "We have prepared a drone show, performances and a local food market in one place so that people of all generations can enjoy them. We hope visitors create wonderful Chuseok memories with their families."
