"Have Sex Once a Week and I'll Give You 50 Million Won" ... 60-Year-Old Man Who Deceived a Woman in Her 20s by Showing a "Fake 1.4 Billion-Won Account" Sentenced

[Financial News] A man in his 60s has been sentenced to prison after pretending to be wealthy, deceiving a woman in her 20s by promising her a large sum of money, and having sex with her dozens of times without paying what he promised.
According to legal sources on the 21st, Judge Jeon Hee-sook of the 9th Criminal Single-Judge Division at Gwangju District Court sentenced A, 65, to eight months in prison for fraud and violating the Act on the Punishment of Arrangement of Commercial Sex Acts.
A was indicted for having sex with B, 28, 27 times between April and October 2024 and failing to pay the promised 50 million won, along with living expenses and other costs.
A first met B at a massage parlor and proposed, "I'll give you 50 million won, so let's meet once a week or about three times a month and have sex regularly." He then urged her to quit her job, saying he would cover her living and tuition expenses if she became his girlfriend.
During this process, A showed B an account displaying a balance of more than 1.4 billion won to flaunt his wealth, but it was later found to be forged. At the time, A was reportedly standing trial in another fraud case.
Believing A's claims, B quit the establishment where she worked. She subsequently had sex with him 27 times over approximately six months, but received only 2.6 million won. A failed to pay the promised amount, making excuses such as, "If I give you 50 million won all at once, the National Tax Service (NTS) may contact me."
At trial, A's side argued that the 50 million won was not payment for sex but money he had intended to provide to help B, who had been in a difficult financial situation, as his girlfriend. However, the court rejected the claim that the two had been in a romantic relationship.
The court stated, "The offense is serious given its duration and frequency, as well as the amount defrauded. He is highly blameworthy because he committed the offense despite having been punished several times for similar crimes and either being tried for fraud or serving a suspended sentence." However, the court took into account that B had engaged in prostitution in exchange for payment for sex and that A had paid her approximately 2.6 million won.
