Hongcheon County Allocates KRW 1.7 Billion in Second-Half Supplementary Budget to Improve Agricultural Infrastructure

【Financial News, Hongcheon = Reporter Kim Gi-seop】Hongcheon County has allocated KRW 1.7 billion in a second-half supplementary budget to improve aging agricultural water-supply facilities and accelerate its upland field infrastructure improvement project.
According to Hongcheon County on the 22nd, the supplementary budget will fund water development, water-source improvement and other agricultural infrastructure projects to supply water efficiently to farmland. It includes renovation and repair costs as well as design service fees. For the design services included in the second-half supplementary budget, the county plans to include construction costs in next year's regular budget and begin construction in the first half of the year, thereby promoting the early execution of the budget.
The projects included in this supplementary budget also cover the upland field infrastructure improvement project in Changchon District, spanning 73 hectares. The project exceeds the 10-hectare threshold for a consolidated upland field area. After a basic plan was established in 2024, it was selected as the top priority for provincial subsidy projects in 2025 and launched this year. Beginning in the first half of next year, the project will be carried out in full during periods excluding the busy farming season.
Through this year's agricultural infrastructure projects, the county plans to maintain, repair and replace facilities damaged or further deteriorated during the farming season. It aims to complete preparations before next year's farming season to prevent disruptions to water supplies and contribute to increased agricultural productivity.
