[Financial News] Naver Pay Unlisted, an over-the-counter trading platform for unlisted shares, has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Korea Investment & Securities and KIWOOM Securities to promote the over-the-counter market for unlisted shares. The company plans to establish a foundation for trading unlisted shares in line with changes in the regulatory and market environment.
According to industry sources on the 22nd, the parties will pursue broad cooperation with the securities firms, focusing on institutionalizing and revitalizing the over-the-counter market for unlisted shares, creating a safe and reliable trading environment, strengthening investor protection, and improving information access for unlisted companies and investors.
Through the MOU, Naver Pay Unlisted also plans to help establish the foundation for cross-trading of unlisted shares between securities firms. It will strengthen cooperation with its existing partners, Samsung Securities and KB Securities. Once cross-trading between securities firms is introduced, their systems can be connected so that unlisted shares can be safely traded and settled even when the seller and buyer use different securities firms.
The company plans to improve individual investors' access to unlisted-share investments while expanding opportunities for promising venture companies and startups to connect with investors. It also aims to contribute to increased investment in unlisted companies.
Lee Young-min, CEO of Naver Pay Unlisted, said, "We will expand cooperation with Korea Investment & Securities and KIWOOM Securities to institutionalize and revitalize the over-the-counter market for unlisted shares, drawing on the expertise and capabilities of each company," adding, "We will contribute to creating a sound investment ecosystem for unlisted shares by connecting investors with promising unlisted companies more effectively."
