Kuromi and Pochacco Become Cookies as Cookie Run Meets Sanrio

[Financial News] Kuromi, Pochacco and Hangyodon, among other Sanrio characters, will appear as cookies in Cookie Run: OvenBreak.
Devsisters said on the 22nd that its running-action game Cookie Run: OvenBreak would launch a collaboration with the global IP franchise Sanrio Characters beginning on the 23rd.
Through the update, six Sanrio characters—My Melody, Kuromi, Cinnamoroll, Pompompurin, Pochacco and Hangyodon—will join the Cookie Run universe as cookies. Six new companion pets featuring each character’s traits will also be introduced. The collaboration will run through October 26.
The game will also offer a camping-themed event mode, “Camping with the Sanrio Characters!” featuring Sanrio Characters cookies. It consists of minigames in which players complete character-specific missions, allowing them to decorate a camping area each time they clear a stage. Completing the camping area rewards players with a collaboration-exclusive illustrated lobby.
For existing users, the game will introduce “Sanrio Characters’ Group Escape.” Players select six cookies and run with them in succession. Combining Sanrio Characters cookies with their companion pets activates a special “Friends Power-Up” effect. Depending on their results, players can receive collaboration-exclusive currency, including Acorn Medals.
A “Friends Level” system will also be introduced to reduce the burden of leveling up multiple Sanrio Characters cookies individually. The Friends Level is set based on the three highest-level characters among those a player owns. In some collaboration content, the levels of the remaining characters will be raised to match the Friends Level.
Acorn Medals earned through gameplay can be exchanged in the collaboration shop for Sanrio Characters cookies and pets, exclusive skins and other items.
The game will also offer various other collaboration features, including “Cookie’s Challenge,” where players take on objectives in character-themed maps; “Hide-and-Seek with the Sanrio Characters!,” where they search for hidden Sanrio Characters cookies and pets; and minigames that involve collecting fallen leaves.
