Kumsung Publishing Opens 'Bit beat,' a Cultural Space Featuring Its 60-Year Music Archive

[Financial News]  Kumsung Publishing opened its fourth new space, the permanent music listening room 'Bit beat,' at Kumsung Cultural Space (KCS), a complex cultural venue in Yongsan District, Seoul, on the 22nd.
The newly opened 'Bit beat' is a dedicated listening space designed to let visitors experience Kumsung Publishing's long-standing music archive in person. It features vintage audio equipment, including Altec A5 speakers developed for American theaters in the 1940s and vacuum-tube amplifiers built on 1930s Western Electric circuit designs.
Visitors can listen to Kumsung Publishing's LPs and recorded content through its distinctive vintage audio system. They can also use archive booklets and QR codes provided on site to hear representative tracks.
Kumsung Publishing expanded its publishing business into music in 1965, the year it was founded, beginning with the Complete Collection of World Music, which combined LPs with explanatory booklets. It went on to release seven album series, including the Complete Collection of World Film Music, the Complete Collection of World Light Music, the Complete History of Korean Art Songs, and Selected Korean Traditional Music, building an independent cultural heritage.
Through the opening of 'Bit beat,' the company aims to reinterpret its musical assets accumulated over decades with a modern sensibility and expand its engagement with customers.
Meanwhile, KCS is a cultural and arts platform connecting Kumsung Publishing's past and future. With the addition of 'Bit beat' to the existing 'Ppuri,' 'Heulg,' and 'Ssak,' it now has a total of four themed spaces.
