[Financial News | Hongseong = Kim Won-jun] South Chungcheong Province (Chungnam) has begun efforts to attract tourists by promoting the region's diverse tourism resources and major international events in Germany, a hub of the European market.
Chungnam participated in the '2026 Germany K-Tourism Business-to-Business (B2B) Roadshow' held at Rogenhaus Hall in Frankfurt am Main on the 21st (local time). The province said on the 22nd that it focused on promoting the appeal of tourism in Chungnam to local travel companies and media outlets.
Hosted by the Frankfurt office of the Korea Tourism Organization (KTO), the event brought together representatives from domestic and overseas travel companies as well as local journalists. They shared the latest trends in Korean tourism and discussed practical ways to develop tourism products.
During the roadshow, Chungnam held a series of one-on-one business consultations with major local travel agencies and broadly introduced the province's leading tourist destinations, local cuisine, and cultural festivals. In particular, it highlighted four major international events to be held in or linked to the province in the future—the Nonsan World Strawberry Industry Expo, Seom Biennale, World Youth Day (WYD), and Chungcheong 2027 FISU World University Games—and formally proposed that local companies develop group-tour packages using these events.
In addition, Chungnam noted that European tourists prefer experiential travel with historical and cultural depth over simple leisure trips. It also explained the academic and cultural value of the Baekje Historic Areas in Gongju and Buyeo County, which are listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site. Story-driven tourism routes combining Baekje's archaeological remains with the beautiful riverside scenery of the Geum River attracted the attention of local travel agencies specializing in culture and history. A premium healing program combined with a sunset tour along the west coast also received favorable reviews.
Chungnam also showcased its distinctive tourism resources from various angles through a tourism promotion session. In a separate meeting with officials from KTO's Frankfurt office, the province discussed recent trends in the European tourism market and ways to cooperate in promoting tourism in Chungnam.
A Chungnam provincial government official said, "This roadshow served as a meaningful opportunity to showcase Chungnam's hidden appeal to local travel companies and major media outlets in Germany. We will continue to work closely with overseas offices and related organizations to raise awareness of tourism in Chungnam and pursue multifaceted marketing efforts to attract tourists from Europe in concrete terms."
