President Lee, who began his overseas trip centered on attending the UN General Assembly, shared a post via X, formerly known as Twitter, immediately after arriving at JFK Airport in New York on the 21st, local time. The post introduced the contents of the government's "Housing Stability Plan," which had been announced the previous day.
His remarks were seen as reaffirming the determination he expressed at a press conference on the 18th to continue swiftly expanding housing supply while steadfastly pursuing the policy goal of "breaking away from being a real estate republic."
At the press conference, President Lee reiterated, "I will make absolutely sure to stabilize the real estate market so that we can avoid the 'lost 30 years' that we would eventually have no choice but to face if things continue as they are." He continued, "We will ensure housing prices stabilize by firmly and swiftly implementing supply, regulatory, and tax policies, while communicating sufficiently with stakeholders to minimize confusion and opposition."
