Han Dong-hoon Takes Aim at Democratic Party's "Crap General" Kim Byung-joo; Kim Fires Back, "Don't Disparage the Military"

[Financial News] A war of words erupted after independent lawmaker Han Dong-hoon called Democratic Party of Korea lawmaker Kim Byung-joo a 'crap general.' Kim responded by saying Han should not disparage the military, while Han countered that Kim was the one insulting the military.
On the 20th, Han shared one of Kim's comments on social media and criticized him, writing, "Democratic Party 'crap general' Kim Byung-joo is going ballistic to beg for followers." The following day, Han shared an article about Kim's remarks defending Kim Seung-won, the nominee for Minister of Justice, and wrote, "Democratic Party 'crap general' lawmaker Kim Byung-joo. Do you still hold the view you expressed three days ago that 'Kim Seung-won has excellent character and outstanding ability and should be appointed quickly'?'"
Kim, a former four-star Army general who served as deputy commander of the ROK/US Combined Forces Command from 2017 to 2019, said on Channel A's radio program "Political Signal" that "Han Dong-hoon is firing away at anyone who criticizes him even slightly." As an example, he cited the fact that Han "called me a 'crap general' for criticizing him."
He continued, "What is a 'crap general'? Terms such as 'army grunt' and 'crap general' disparage the military and should not be used," adding, "It is fine to criticize me, but 'crap general' is a term that disparages generals who devoted their entire lives to serving the country. It is even setting back South Korea's language culture."
Kim added, "Han seems to be in quite a hurry. When a lawmaker, who represents the people, uses expressions that only street thugs would use, he is lowering his own dignity and showing that he lacks the qualifications to serve as a lawmaker. He should maintain a certain level of dignity as a member of the National Assembly."
Han immediately hit back. "Kim seems to have been hurt by being called a 'crap general,'" he said. "Kim Byung-joo, the Democratic Party's 'crap general' who is pushing to consolidate the Army, Navy, and Air Force military academies to punish our military, is the one insulting it." He stressed that Kim, not Han, was insulting the military by taking the lead in consolidating the Army, Navy, and Air Force military academies.
