KORAIL announced on the 21st that it is participating in the Korea Social Value Festa at the COEX Convention & Exhibition Center in Seoul and will operate a railway merchandise promotional booth through the 22nd. Hosted by the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI), the event provides a platform for the government, businesses and others to share cases of solving social problems and seek opportunities for cooperation.
Korea National Railway, the Korea Railroad Research Institute (KRRI) and KORAIL Retail are also participating in the promotional booth. The four institutions are displaying merchandise development cases and major products that use railway IP, including train and station designs, names and logos.
KORAIL will unveil assembly blocks for station and train models, traditional liquor sets from Seoul Station and Busan Station, key rings made by recycling materials from retired trains, and stationery and other novelty items featuring railway IP.
Since March last year, KORAIL has provided railway IP to small and medium-sized enterprises, including social enterprises, while supporting joint product development and the expansion of sales channels. About 230 products have been developed to date.
The products are sold at merchandise stores at Seoul Station, Busan Station and Suseo Station, as well as at Storyway convenience stores in some railway stations.
