Seongdong Police Station holds "Hope Plus" run to prevent youth gambling and suicide

[Financial News] Seoul Seongdong Police Station held a campaign in which it ran with students to prevent youth cyber gambling and suicide.
Seoul Seongdong Police Station said on the 21st that it held the "Hope Plus Run for Eradicating Youth Gambling and Preventing Suicide" at Salgoji Sports Park in Seongdong-gu, Seoul, on the 19th. The event was organized to mark World Suicide Prevention Day and Gambling Addiction Eradication Day, and drew 70 participants, including local students, parents, teachers and police officers.
Police organized the event in response to the growing social problem of youth cyber gambling and the rising risks of secondary crimes and suicide associated with gambling.
Before the event, organizers operated an interactive gambling-prevention quiz booth to raise awareness of the dangers of illegal gambling. Participants also received key rings bearing messages about respect for life and photo cards listing counseling hotlines for gambling and suicide prevention.
The run followed the Jungnangcheon and was divided into a 3-kilometer beginner course and a 9.1-kilometer master course. Medals were awarded to the top three finishers in the master course.
Park, a first-year student at Seongsu Middle School who took part in the event, said, "Running with police officers and my friends made me think about the dangers of gambling and the importance of a healthy life. I think running could help not only physical health but also mental health."
Kang Yong-jun, chief of Seoul Seongdong Police Station, explained, "Teenagers exposed to gambling addiction and psychological crises need attention and healthy physical activities. We will do our best in crime prevention and protective support so that young people can grow safely and healthily."
