Remote Sleeping-Pill Prescription and Manager's Proxy Pickup... Psy Fined 5 Million Won

[Financial News] Singer Psy, whose real name is Park Jae-sang, 48, received a summary order to pay a fine of 5 million won after having his manager pick up sleeping pills prescribed through a remote consultation.
According to legal sources on the 21st, Summary Division 12 of the Seoul Western District Court, presided over by Judge Choi Ye-jin, issued Psy a summary order to pay a fine of 5 million won on the 15th. He had been indicted on charges of violating the Medical Service Act.
Psy is accused of receiving remote prescriptions for psychotropic drugs from a university hospital in Seoul from 2022 through last year and having his manager and others collect the medication on his behalf.
Under the Medical Service Act, doctors are generally required to examine patients in person before issuing prescriptions and may not issue a prescription to anyone other than the patient who received the in-person examination.
In May, police referred six people, including Psy, his manager, and a university hospital doctor who prescribed the sleeping pills, to prosecutors.
In July, prosecutors summarily indicted Psy and the university hospital doctor on charges of violating the Medical Service Act. The other four people referred to prosecutors, including other medical staff and the manager, were given deferred prosecution.
