Dongguk University Appoints Former Democratic Party Parliamentary Leader Hong Young-pyo as Chaired Professor at the Graduate School of Public Administration

Dongguk University announced on the 21st that it had appointed Hong Young-pyo, a former parliamentary leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, as a chaired professor at its Graduate School of Public Administration. His appointment runs from the 15th through August 31 of next year.
Dongguk University presented Hong, the chaired professor, with his appointment certificate at the president's office in the university's main building in Jung-gu, Seoul, on the 18th.
Hong, the chaired professor, graduated from Dongguk University's Department of Philosophy and earned a master's degree from the university's Graduate School of Public Administration. He also completed the coursework for a doctoral program at the graduate school. After serving as secretary for civil society affairs at the Prime Minister's Office in 2004, he served four terms as a Member of the National Assembly, from the 18th through the 21st National Assembly. In 2018, he became the parliamentary leader of the Democratic Party of Korea.
Hong said, "I feel both gratitude and a sense of responsibility toward my alma mater." He added, "Based on the experience and capabilities I have built over the years, I will contribute to Dongguk University's development and the education of future scholars."
