Ulsan police arrest three operators of illegal adult PC rooms targeting the Chuseok holiday rush

[Financial News Ulsan = reporter Choi Soo-sang] Ahead of Chuseok, police conducted a sweeping crackdown on adult PC rooms near traditional markets in Ulsan and booked three operators without detention on suspicion of opening gambling venues and other offenses.
According to the Ulsan Metropolitan Police Agency on the 21st, the crackdown was conducted jointly with the Game Rating and Administration Committee (GRAC) on the 18th at 81 adult PC rooms within a 500-meter radius of traditional markets in Nam-gu, Ulsan. Investigators focused on cash exchanges, the provision of games without rating classifications, violations of facility standards, and breaches of registration requirements and operators’ compliance obligations.
As a result, police uncovered illegal activities at three adult PC rooms and arrested their three operators as flagrant offenders. They also seized evidence, including 29 gaming machines, 8.65 million won in cash and three mobile phones.
Police also identified violations of facility standards and compliance requirements at 28 other locations and requested administrative action from the Nam-gu Office, Ulsan Metropolitan City.
A police official said, "During the crackdown, we found three women in their 70s who lived near the market playing games, showing that anyone can be exposed to gambling-related games in daily life." The official added, "This crackdown is meaningful because it aims to block risk factors in advance ahead of Chuseok, when cash transactions become more active."
