"Suspected Explosion in a Minefield Established by North Korean Forces" ... Yoo Yong-won Claims at National Assembly

[Financial News] Suspicions have emerged that the explosion that occurred on the western-front DMZ on the 21st may have been caused by a North Korean mine. Three military officers were injured in an explosion suspected to have been caused by a mine south of the Military Demarcation Line (MDL) inside the western-front DMZ. Two of them were reportedly seriously injured.
Yoo Yong-won, a member of the National Defense Committee of the National Assembly and the People Power Party, held an emergency press conference at the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea's press briefing room that day and raised suspicions, saying, "The explosion may have occurred near a minefield established by North Korean forces."
Yoo emphasized that he had previously raised strong concerns, including during an interpellation session at the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea on the 10th, about North Korean troops' intrusion into the DMZ by laying mines.
During an interpellation session on diplomacy, unification and national security, Yoo was the first to disclose that minefields established by North Korean forces had allegedly crossed the Military Demarcation Line (MDL) by approximately 10 to 15 meters at six locations within the security area of an unnamed division on the western front. He pointed out that this constituted a violation of the Armistice Agreement and an act undermining territory and sovereignty, and questioned the military authorities about their state of readiness.
Yoo pointed out, "The site of this accident is near a minefield established by North Korea since last year." He called for a thorough investigation into the type of explosive and who planted it, as well as a clear disclosure of whether North Korean forces had laid additional mines anywhere south of the MDL.
The accident occurred at a frontline unit of the 25th Infantry Division, which oversees the areas around Paju and Yeoncheon County in Gyeonggi Province. An unexplained explosion occurred while South Korean military officers were conducting a search operation in an area south of the Military Demarcation Line (MDL) inside the DMZ.
