Jeonbuk State to Distribute 2,600 Wandering Detection Devices

[Financial News, Jeonju—Reporter Kang In] Jeonbuk State held a ceremony at the Jeonbuk State Government Office on the 21st to mark the donation of funds for a wandering detection device distribution project. Lee Won-taek, governor of Jeonbuk State, Park Chun-won, president of Jeonbuk Bank, and Kim Hong-sik, chairman of the Jeonbuk Branch of the Korean Red Cross, attended the event.
Under the donation agreement, Jeonbuk Bank will provide KRW 270 million in project funds. The Jeonbuk Branch of the Korean Red Cross will carry out the project and distribute wrist-worn wandering detection devices and smart tags to dementia patients, people with cognitive decline, people with developmental disabilities, and others at risk of going missing.
A total of 600 wrist-worn wandering detection devices will be provided to dementia patients and people with cognitive decline who face a risk of going missing. Another 2,000 smart tags will be distributed to senior care facilities, facilities for people with developmental disabilities, and similar institutions, bringing the total number of recipients to 2,600.
Wandering detection devices use location data to track dementia patients and others at risk of going missing, helping authorities find them quickly. They are expected not only to prevent disappearances but also to ease the caregiving burden and anxiety of family members.
Jeonbuk State plans to identify eligible recipients through relevant organizations, including the Regional Dementia Center and the Senior Center Regional Support Center. It will work with the Jeonbuk Branch of the Korean Red Cross to distribute the devices.
Lee Won-taek, governor of Jeonbuk State, said, "Wandering detection devices are important safety tools that protect dementia patients and people with developmental disabilities who are at risk of going missing, while reducing the caregiving burden on their families.
