Gangwon FC to Split Home Matches Between Chuncheon and Gangneung in the 2027 and 2028 Seasons

[Financial News, Chuncheon = Reporter Kim Gi-seop] Gangwon FC will split its home matches between Chuncheon and Gangneung in the 2027 and 2028 seasons.
According to Gangwon FC on the 21st, the club signed a mutual cooperation agreement with Chuncheon and Gangneung at 11 a.m. that day in a small conference room on the second floor of the main building of the Gangwon State government office. Attendees included Woo Sang-ho, governor of Gangwon State and owner of Gangwon FC; Chuncheon Mayor Yuk Dong-han; Gangneung Mayor Kim Jungnam; Lee Gi-young, chair of Gangwon FC supporters' group Narsha; and Gangwon FC CEO Byung-ji Kim.
The agreement was arranged to ensure the stable hosting of Gangwon FC's home matches, promote unity among residents and strengthen cooperation between the regions. It also reflects the founding purpose of the club as a team representing the residents of Gangwon State, with the aim of fostering unity and regional cooperation through soccer. Under the agreement, Gangwon FC will hold its home matches in Chuncheon and Gangneung during the 2027 and 2028 seasons.
Chuncheon, Gangneung and Gangwon FC agreed to cooperate on the smooth operation of home matches and the creation of a better viewing environment. Gangwon State will continue providing the necessary support to facilitate cooperation among the two cities and Gangwon FC. The club also plans to work closely with each host city so that its players can compete in a stable environment and fans can watch home matches conveniently and safely.
Woo Sang-ho, the club owner, said, "This agreement marks a meaningful first step as Gangwon FC moves in step with all residents of Gangwon State, including those in Chuncheon and Gangneung. Gangwon State will do its part to help the regions communicate through soccer and bring all residents together."
Chuncheon Mayor Yuk Dong-han said, "I thank Governor Woo Sang-ho for working to create an opportunity for Gangwon FC to recover and Mayor Kim Jungnam for making the long journey here. Going forward, any matters requiring assistance or consultation from the supporting cities must be discussed and decided together in advance." He added, "Chuncheon residents and the city government will continue to support Gangwon FC, just as we have done until now."
Gangneung Mayor Kim Jungnam said, "Although there were various difficulties, Governor Woo Sang-ho worked with us to resolve the problems, and I am grateful that Mayor Yuk Dong-han also reached out again. We will now work to usher in an era in which home matches are held together in Chuncheon and Gangneung." He added, "Gangneung will do its utmost to support Gangwon FC so that it can continue operating as a club for all Gangwon residents and bring them joy through strong performances."
