Samsung Electronics Rises 4.6% as KOSPI Composite Index Attempts to Hold Above 7,000 [fn Afternoon Market]

[Financial News] The KOSPI Composite Index rose above 7,000 during the session, buoyed by strength in large-cap stocks such as Samsung Electronics. With institutional investors and other corporations engaging in net buying, the index has fluctuated around the 7,000 level in afternoon trading as it attempts to hold there.
As of 2 p.m. on the 21st, the KOSPI was trading at 6,998.89, up 104.66 points, or 1.52%, from the previous trading day. After opening at 6,938.34, the index climbed as high as 7,027.58 during the session before paring some of its gains.
Samsung Electronics posted particularly strong gains. Its shares were trading at 273,000 won, up 4.60% from the previous trading day. SK hynix also advanced 0.75% to 1.871 million won, extending the upward momentum.
Trading flows were mixed between individual and institutional investors. On the stock market, individuals were net sellers of 2.718 trillion won, while institutional investors and other corporations were net buyers of 1.2688 trillion won and 1.4038 trillion won, respectively. Foreign investors were recorded as net buyers of about 55.9 billion won.
The KOSDAQ (Korea Securities Dealers Automated Quotations) was trading at 833.67, up 6.55 points, or 0.79%, from the previous trading day.
