Indonesia's Hybrid Vehicle Sales Rise 43.3%; Hyundai Palisade Ranks Ninth, Santa Fe 14th

【Jakarta, Indonesia—Aulia Maulida Hamdani, Correspondent】Indonesia's hybrid vehicle market grew 43.3% from January through August this year, with the Hyundai Palisade Hybrid ranking ninth in sales and the Hyundai Santa Fe Hybrid 14th.
According to local media on the 21st, the Indonesian Automotive Industry Association (Gaikindo) said wholesale sales of hybrid vehicles in Indonesia totaled 58,040 units from January through August, up 43.3% from the same period a year earlier. Hybrid vehicles accounted for approximately 6.75% of total vehicle sales, which stood at 859,256 units.
Hybrid model sales are expanding in Indonesia's hybrid vehicle market, led by family vehicles such as large MPVs and SUVs. The Toyota Innova Zenix Hybrid recorded the highest sales at 17,845 units, followed by the Toyota Veloz Hybrid with 15,554 units. The Suzuki XL7 Hybrid with 5,572 units, Suzuki Fronx Hybrid with 3,294 units, and Honda HR-V Hybrid with 3,225 units also posted strong sales.
Hyundai Motor sold 774 Hyundai Palisade Hybrids and 538 Hyundai Santa Fe Hybrids, ranking ninth and 14th, respectively, in total hybrid vehicle sales. In particular, the Hyundai Palisade Hybrid recorded the highest sales among Hyundai Motor's hybrid models.
Hyundai Motor is expanding its foothold in the Indonesian market by responding to local demand for vehicle electrification with an SUV-focused hybrid lineup that includes the Hyundai Palisade and Hyundai Santa Fe.
