GS Engineering & Construction Holds 'AX Recipe' Final; Solutions to Be Applied in Operations

[Financial News] GS Engineering & Construction held the final round of 'AX Recipe,' its in-house competition for using artificial intelligence (AI), which has been held since June. The outstanding projects selected in the final will be applied in actual business operations.
According to GS Engineering & Construction on the 21st, 12 teams demonstrated solutions they had developed themselves at the final held on the 18th. Earlier, the company selected 12 teams from approximately 90 teams to advance to the final through a comprehensive evaluation.
Executives and employees, including CEO Huh Yun-hong, voted to select three outstanding teams.
This year's grand prize went to a solution that uses AI to streamline the review of detailed plant structural-steel drawings. The solution, developed through AI-assisted vibe coding, cut review time by more than 80% compared with the manual process of visually checking thousands of steel members. One representative of the winning team was given the opportunity to attend CES 2027, the world's largest information technology and consumer electronics exhibition.
GS Engineering & Construction provided participants in this year's AX Recipe with AI training and project-specific coaching over the two months of July and August. The company will consider applying the selected outstanding projects in actual operations and expanding them across divisions and companywide.
During the competition, numerous AI solutions tailored to the construction industry were identified. These included a solution linked to GS Engineering & Construction's defect-prevention platform that reviews designs and construction in advance and proposes improved construction methods, as well as a solution that tracks project contract changes. A GS Engineering & Construction official said, "We will continue to expand construction-specific data and AI utilization models by strengthening a system in which training, practice, and application in actual operations are organically connected."
Meanwhile, AX Recipe, first held last year, is GS Engineering & Construction's in-house competition in which employees use AI directly to solve work-related problems and identify new ways of working. This year, the competition was revamped from an individual-centered approach to a team-based model involving operating departments.
