[Financial News] Space launch vehicle engines, satellite platforms and space AI (artificial intelligence) solutions are among the technologies that Hanwha Aerospace, Hanwha Systems, Hyundai Rotem and Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI) will showcase at the 2nd International Aerospace Technology Expo (AEROTEC 2026, AEROTEC), which will take place from the 30th through the 2nd of next month. Ahead of the launch of Nuri (KSLV-II) No. 5 on the 7th of next month, the companies will present their vision for the future of the aerospace industry.
The AEROTEC secretariat said on the 21st that the companies are scheduled to showcase their latest technologies and products. With the launch of Nuri (KSLV-II) No. 5 scheduled to carry five microsatellites and 10 CubeSats, the event is expected to highlight how major companies plan to expand the space industry ecosystem.
Hanwha Aerospace, which is responsible for the systems integration of Nuri (KSLV-II) and the supply of key components, will focus on developing the private space transportation business. It will announce preparations for upcoming launches and follow-up launch plans, including Nuri's 75t-class liquid rocket engine and key components. The company also plans to explain its vision for advancing into the space transportation business based on Nuri's current technologies and achievements, as well as its future plans.
Hyundai Rotem will also showcase launch vehicle engine technology. The centerpiece is a reusable space launch vehicle engine, an essential requirement for space transportation operations. The company will introduce a methane engine and propulsion system technologies for reusable space launch vehicles being developed under the Korea Research Institute for Defense Technology Planning and Advancement (KRIT). As the company chairing the Korea Association for Space Technology Promotion (KASP), it also plans to present strategies for developing domestic space technologies and expanding the industry ecosystem.
KAI is focusing on the satellites that launch vehicles place into orbit. The company will explain its efforts to expand its satellite platform lineup, ranging from medium- and large-sized satellites to microsatellites, led by an ultra-high-resolution satellite being developed in cooperation with Lemondo, a space startup based in the United States and Israel. KAI aims to enter the global satellite market by establishing robust satellite platforms.
Hanwha Systems will present a space AI solution for using data collected by satellites. The technology was first unveiled earlier this month at MSPO, a defense industry exhibition held in Poland. It analyzes satellite data with AI to support rapid decision-making in industry, defense and disaster response. Specifically, it can precisely track an adversary's military movements and link the data to strikes against weapons systems, or analyze changes in buildings and terrain in disaster areas to calculate the extent of the damage.
Support will also be provided to help these technologies attract attention in global markets. Companies and buyers from the United States, Germany, India, Canada, Kuwait, Lithuania, Luxembourg and Australia, among other countries, will be invited for export consultations and business networking. The event is expected to lay the groundwork for joint projects and technological cooperation.
