"Where will traffic be congested on the way home?" Kakao Navi offers an at-a-glance view of traffic conditions

[Financial News] Kakao Mobility has enhanced Kakao Navi features that allow users to check real-time traffic conditions ahead of the Chuseok holiday and expanded the vehicle options available through Kakao T Rental Car. The move is aimed at reducing the driving burden during trips to visit family and return home, when traffic volumes surge, while supporting more efficient travel.
On the 21st, Kakao Mobility unveiled 'Smart, Budget-Friendly Travel Tips' featuring Kakao Navi and Kakao T Rental Car.
Following a recent overhaul, Kakao Navi provides not only optimal routes that reflect accidents and congested sections but also the reasons those routes were recommended. This allows drivers to more easily understand road conditions and why a route change has been suggested.
When drivers enter a congested section, they can tap the information bubble displayed on the screen to view real-time closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage of the area. Kakao Navi's 'Driving Life' menu also allows users to check their driving scores and the number of instances of speeding, sudden acceleration and sudden deceleration to review their driving habits.
Users who have driven at least 500 kilometers with Kakao Navi enabled over the past six months and meet a certain driving-score requirement can receive discounts on their auto insurance premiums when they purchase or renew policies with partner insurers. Kakao Mobility plans to expand its usage-based insurance (UBI) partnerships from the existing DB Insurance and AXA General Insurance to include KB Insurance and Hyundai Marine & Fire Insurance, bringing the total to four companies.
Kakao Mobility has also expanded the Kakao T Rental Car options available to users who need a vehicle during the holiday period. In partnership with around 500 small and midsize rental-car operators nationwide, it has expanded its electric-vehicle lineup to about 50 models, including vehicles from Tesla, Polestar and BYD. Premium vans suitable for family travel are also available.
Users can compare vehicle brands, model years, rental prices and insurance terms on the Kakao T app. Depending on their needs, they can choose from electric vehicles, premium imported cars, supercars and campers. Until October 11, a first-come, first-served promotion will also allow users to rent selected models, including the Hyundai Elantra, Hyundai Sonata, Kia K5 and TRAX, for three days at prices in the 100,000-won range.
A Kakao Mobility official said, "We hope to reduce fatigue during trips to visit family and return home and help people enjoy a comfortable and safe holiday."
