Eastar Jet Adds 24th Aircraft, Next-Generation Models Now Account for More Than Half of Fleet

[Financial News] Eastar Jet announced on the 21st that it had introduced its 24th aircraft. Three aircraft have been delivered in just one month since last month, raising the share of next-generation aircraft to 58%.
Eastar Jet said its 24th aircraft was introduced on the 20th. A commemorative event was held on the apron at Gimpo International Airport, attended by executives and employees including Yoo Sang-jong, head of the Management Division, and Lee Kyungmin, head of the Commercial Division.
The 24th aircraft is a 189-seat Boeing B737-8, the same model as aircraft Nos. 22 and 23 introduced last month. It is the first new-build aircraft delivered to Eastar Jet. The model offers greater fuel efficiency than its predecessors, which is expected to reduce fuel costs and carbon emissions.
Eastar Jet now operates a total of 14 aircraft of this model. As a result, next-generation aircraft account for 58% of its total fleet. With their share surpassing half of the fleet, the airline's average fleet age has also fallen sharply to the seven-year range. This is the lowest level among domestic airlines, making Eastar Jet the carrier operating the youngest aircraft.
An Eastar Jet official said, "By expanding our fleet to 24 aircraft and securing additional spare engines, we have further strengthened our fleet competitiveness and operational stability." The official added, "Building on our expanded fleet, we will further improve operational efficiency while enhancing customer satisfaction through the comfortable cabin environment provided by our new aircraft."
