Chuncheon's Hakgok Liquid Hydrogen Refueling Station to Close for 45 Days; Emergency Response System Activated

【Financial News Chuncheon—Kim Gi-seop, reporter】Chuncheon's Hakgok Liquid Hydrogen Refueling Station will close for 45 days starting October 6, prompting Chuncheon City to activate an emergency response system with alternative arrangements for different vehicle types.
According to Chuncheon City on the 21st, the Hakgok Liquid Hydrogen Refueling Station will suspend operations from October 6 through November 19 because SK Incheon Petrochem's liquid hydrogen production facility will shut down during a major overhaul of its plant. During this period, the Dongnae and Samcheon Hydrogen Refueling Stations will continue operating with adjusted hours and vehicle access.
The emergency response measures cover a total of 1,344 vehicles, including 46 hydrogen buses and 1,298 Hyundai Nexo passenger cars. The city held meetings with relevant agencies and transportation operators and prepared response measures by vehicle type to prevent disruptions to vehicle operations and refueling.
First, the 10 low-floor hydrogen city buses operated by Chuncheon Citizen Bus will be replaced with spare vehicles, including CNG and electric buses. The 36 high-floor hydrogen charter buses that used the Hakgok station will use the Dongnae Hydrogen Refueling Station instead. Dongnae station will operate from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., with passenger cars given exclusive access from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. and buses from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Hyundai Nexo owners will be directed to use the Samcheon Hydrogen Refueling Station as their primary option. Samcheon station will serve passenger cars exclusively, with one additional staff member assigned and its operating hours adjusted to 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Passenger cars may also use the Dongnae station from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m.
Meanwhile, Chuncheon plans to put up banners at the refueling stations and major locations and provide information on each station's operating hours and eligible vehicle types through the hydrogen refueling station information app “Hying” and the city's website.
Yuk Dong-han, mayor of Chuncheon, said, "We have prepared response measures by vehicle type: city buses will be switched to spare vehicles, charter buses will use Dongnae, and passenger cars will use the Samcheon station." He added, "We will closely monitor operations at each station to ensure that citizens experience no inconvenience during the 45-day emergency operating period."
