LG Display Launches World’s First 24.5-Inch OLED Gaming Panel

[Financial News] LG Display has launched the world's first 24.5-inch 720Hz gaming OLED panel optimized for esports monitors. As it begins full-scale mass production of the panel, LG Display plans to lead the mainstream adoption of organic light-emitting diode (OLED) technology in the esports monitor market.
According to LG Display on the 21st, the 24.5-inch 720Hz gaming OLED panel simultaneously delivers the world's highest refresh rate of 720Hz and a response time of 0.02ms among gaming OLEDs currently on the market.
A 720Hz refresh rate means the screen can change up to 720 times per second. Since many scenes must transition extremely quickly, applying an algorithm that enables stable operation is key to completing the technology.
LG Display developed and applied a proprietary algorithm to deliver a smooth, uninterrupted 720Hz refresh rate even at FHD (1920×1080) resolution. It thereby completed an integrated solution spanning everything from panel design to the driving system.
Based on this technology, the panel delivers an ultra-high refresh rate and ultra-fast response time, drastically reducing image ghosting and trailing while providing an optimal experience in first-person shooter (FPS) and racing games. It can render speeding vehicles without afterimages and capture muzzle flashes with striking clarity and smoothness. Unlike LCDs, which require a backlight, OLED pixels emit their own light, maximizing immersion through a more three-dimensional picture.
The panel will first be applied to the ROG Swift OLED PG259QWS Ace, which has been selected as the official monitor for the major global esports event PGL CS2 Major Singapore 2026. The monitor is a new product from global IT company ASUS.
LG Display plans to lead the gaming display market based on a full lineup of gaming OLED panels ranging from the 20-inch to the 40-inch range, along with proprietary technologies such as Dynamic Frequency & Resolution (DFR). To further strengthen its differentiated technological competitiveness, the company will also accelerate AI transformation (AX) throughout gaming display development.
Lee Hyeonu, head of LG Display’s Large Business Division, said, "As a technology-driven company, we will lead the transition to OLED in the gaming monitor market and drive the mainstream adoption of OLED globally."
