Samsung Electronics Breaks Ground on FläktGroup HVAC Production Line in Gwangju; Operations to Begin in 2028

[Financial News] Samsung Electronics held a groundbreaking ceremony on the 21st for a FläktGroup heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) production line at the Samsung Electronics Gwangju Plant in Jeonnam-Gwangju Integrated Special City.
Samsung Electronics will invest approximately 240 billion won to build the HVAC production line on the third campus of the Gwangju Plant. The facility will have a total floor area of 21,800 square meters, or approximately 6,600 pyeong, and is scheduled to begin full-scale operations in early 2028.
This is the first production facility Samsung Electronics has built since acquiring European air-conditioning company FläktGroup. It will be FläktGroup's 15th global production hub and will serve as a key manufacturing base for meeting demand in Korea and East Asia for air-conditioning systems at AI data centers, advanced manufacturing facilities such as semiconductor and battery plants, and large commercial facilities.
The event was attended by Samsung Electronics President and CEO of the Device eXperience (DX) Division Roh Tae-moon; FläktGroup CFO Tobias Ketele; Min Hyung-bae, mayor of Jeonnam-Gwangju Integrated Special City; and Ahn Do-geol, chair of the Jeonnam-Gwangju Integrated Special City party committee, among others.
Building on the new production line, Samsung Electronics plans to further strengthen its global production capabilities for advanced cooling equipment and central air-conditioning solutions to meet rapidly growing demand for cooling and air-conditioning solutions at AI data centers.
The new production line will manufacture key cooling and central air-conditioning equipment for AI data centers, advanced manufacturing facilities, and large commercial facilities, including coolant distribution units (CDUs), fan wall units (FWUs), computer room air handlers (CRAHs), and air handling units (AHUs).
Samsung Electronics plans to implement rigorous safety management measures from the groundbreaking and construction of the new production line through its completion and the stabilization of mass production. The company also plans to contribute actively to revitalizing the local economy by recruiting and developing talented local workers and promoting mutual growth with partner companies.
Roh Tae-moon said, "The groundbreaking of FläktGroup's new production line will be another milestone in advancing our HVAC business, a key growth engine for the company." He added, "We plan to develop the Gwangju Plant into an advanced manufacturing hub that produces both AI home appliances and next-generation HVAC solutions."
