[Financial News] Busan-based companies are moving to tap the Caucasus market and open up new export opportunities.
Busan Metropolitan City Government said on the 21st that it will send the 2026 Caucasus Consumer Goods Trade Mission to Baku in the Republic of Azerbaijan and Tbilisi in Georgia from November 8 to 14.
The trade mission will include 10 local companies, which will hold export consultations with local buyers and seek new business partners.
The Caucasus is a trade hub connecting Europe and Asia. Its strategic importance is growing amid the restructuring of global supply chains, drawing attention as a new export market.
Georgia has access to a hinterland market encompassing the European Union (EU) and the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS). The Republic of Azerbaijan also offers strong potential to expand into nearby markets such as Türkiye, Georgia and the Middle East, making it a strategic foothold for targeting the Caucasus market.
As the Korean Wave, including K-dramas and K-pop, has spread recently, awareness of Korean-made products has grown in the region. Export offerings have also diversified to include cosmetics, food and household goods.
Companies wishing to participate in the trade mission can apply through the Busan Export Platform by the 28th.
Participating companies will receive support covering 50% of round-trip airfare, local transportation, interpretation and other necessities for taking part in local export consultation sessions.
