'MapleStory' Escape Room Cafe Opens in Hongdae

[Financial News] Nexon announced on the 21st that it had opened MapleStory Escape, an escape room cafe based on the MapleStory intellectual property (IP).
MapleStory Escape, which opened in front of Hongik University's main gate on Wausan-ro in Seoul, recreates MapleStory's world and iconic locations as escape room experiences. The venue allows visitors to enjoy the game's stories firsthand in a real-world setting. Admission is 29,000 won per person, with two to six people allowed per session. Regular reservations open every Monday at 10 a.m. on YES24.
There are five themes in total. The thriller-themed Kerning City and arcade-themed Mureung Garden will open first on Sept. 21, followed by the spooky-themed Haunted Mansion on Sept. 28, the infiltration-themed Edelstein on Oct. 5, and the arcade-themed Ludibrium on Oct. 12.
The venue will also offer limited-edition merchandise available only at MapleStory Escape, including acrylic dioramas and plush pouch key rings. Theme-specific rankings will be available on the official website, allowing visitors to check the records of other participants.
To celebrate the official opening, Nexon will offer a presale period for MapleStory users through Sept. 27 and hold various events. In the Maple Escape Room Number One event, the team with the fastest daily time in the Kerning City or Mureung Garden theme will receive a commemorative acrylic stand. The Kerning City in Hongdae event will let visitors meet a Kerning City NPC on the streets of Hongdae from noon to 9 p.m. Visitors who win the Monttangtta's Lockpicking, How to Become a Thief with Dark Lord, or Find Shumi's Coin mini-games will receive an Escape L-folder.
Maple Escape Day, a private rental event for MapleStory users, will be held for three days from Oct. 9 to 11. During the event, MapleStory creators Pangiyo, Segeulja, Myunghoon, Jingyeok Cannon, and Cheongmyo will appear as special part-time staff.
A match prediction event will also run through Sept. 27. The MapleStory creator duo Ira333 and Tayo will face the survival experts Seo Chul Gu and Heo Seong-beom in an escape room showdown. Participants will receive a The Culprit Is You chair, while users who correctly predict the winning team can obtain a Hallow Cat Damage Skin (Unit) Selection Coupon.
