[Financial News] Eugene Investment & Securities will verify a plan to use stablecoins to settle subscription payments for token securities.
According to financial investment industry sources on the 21st, Eugene Investment & Securities signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with blockchain specialist BEATOZ to integrate token securities and stablecoins. The two companies will examine the feasibility of applying stablecoins to securities operations and pursue a proof of concept (PoC) for using stablecoins to settle token securities subscription payments.
The companies will first apply stablecoins to the payment process for token securities subscriptions. Token securities currently record securities holdings and changes in rights on a distributed ledger, while subscription payments are settled through existing bank accounts.
The two companies will verify a structure that converts the payment stage to stablecoins and processes the entire process, from subscription to settlement, on-chain.
Based on the verification results, they will also pursue follow-up cooperation, including infrastructure integration. Eugene Investment & Securities completed development of its token securities platform in 2024 and participated last year in a token securities test project led by KSD. It is also currently participating in Hana Financial Group's won-denominated stablecoin consortium.
Eun Seok-hoon, head of the AX Innovation Office at Eugene Investment & Securities, said, "We aim to find a solution through a proof of concept and joint research, leveraging the token securities issuance platform we previously developed."
Lee Sang-kook, head of BEATOZ's Korean entity, said, "Token securities are designed to process the transfer of rights on a distributed ledger, but payments remain on existing financial rails. BEATOZ has built up references for payment and settlement processes with regulatory compliance in mind, and through this cooperation, we will create the same flow in the capital market."
Meanwhile, Eugene Investment & Securities signed an MOU with Korea Ocean Business (KOBC) in September last year to promote the fractional ship investment industry. It is pursuing a pilot project to issue and distribute ship assets as electronic securities, as well as plans to expand the business into token securities in the future.
