According to industry sources on the 21st, Kakao Entertainment has been supporting the Seoul and Gyeonggi Association of the Deaf and low-income youth in Seongnam City since 2022, in line with the group's win-win slogan, "Closer Together, Kakao." It has provided the Seoul and Gyeonggi Association of the Deaf with a cumulative 289 million won in Kakao Page gift cards and cash.
The 21st Seoul Metropolitan Sign Language Culture Festival, in which Kakao Entertainment and Kakao participated as official partners and sponsors, is the largest Deaf cultural festival of its kind in the country. The event is held annually by the Seoul Metropolitan Association of the Deaf to promote social understanding of Deaf people and expand the use of sign language and Deaf people's access to culture. Kakao Entertainment again participated this year by providing in-kind sponsorship and operating on-site programs.
This year also saw a contest to create sign-language names in collaboration with Kakao Entertainment. Last year, Kakao Entertainment became the first Korean company to create an official corporate sign with Deaf people. This year, it announced the winning entries in contests to create sign-language names for its music platform Melon and global K-culture fan platform Berriz, selecting them as the brands' official signs.
At the festival, the "Learn Kakao Entertainment Sign Language" program was held with webtoon artist Kang Yeoreum, who created a webtoon last year based on Kakao Entertainment's winning sign-language entry. A photo booth called "Closer Together, Sign Four-Cut" was also set up, allowing visitors to take special photos using sign-language webtoon frames.
