[Financial News] CJ Logistics is set to develop Physical AI technologies for logistics operations with RLWRLD, a Physical AI company.
CJ Logistics said on the 21st that it had signed an 'MOU for Strategic Collaboration on Logistics-Specialized Physical AI' with RLWRLD on the 18th.
The agreement is intended to combine the two companies' technological expertise and capabilities to jointly secure key technologies for the future of the logistics industry. They plan to jointly develop Physical AI technologies for use in logistics operations and pursue their demonstration and commercialization.
The two companies will first jointly develop a Robotics Foundation Model (RFM). RFM is an AI model that enables robots to integrate visual, language, voice, and sensor data, independently perceive their surroundings, and make decisions and act.
CJ Logistics will use data accumulated from parcel delivery, fulfillment, and cold-chain operations to identify tasks requiring automation and establish performance standards, while handling technology validation. RLWRLD will be responsible for developing the RFM and Physical AI software.
They will also conduct field technology demonstrations in actual logistics business environments. The companies plan to demonstrate tasks such as sorting parcels by aligning them with their shipping labels facing upward, while expanding the application of Physical AI models by collecting and training them on precise hand-motion data.
CJ Logistics previously deployed two humanoid dual-arm robots at the OLIVE YOUNG logistics center in Yangji, Yongin, Gyeonggi Province, where they are being used to insert cushioning material. The company plans to expand their use to processes such as picking, sorting, and inspection.
Lee Jong-hoon, head of CJ Logistics' Future Growth Promotion Group, said, "The logistics infrastructure CJ Logistics possesses and the data from operations that handle materials with diverse physical properties provide an optimal environment for AI training and advancement. We will develop and enhance Physical AI technologies optimized for logistics operations, secure our competitiveness, and make them a future growth engine."
