'Jajangmyeon Festival' to Be Held in Incheon... A Gourmet and Cultural Celebration in the Open Port Area

[Financial News Incheon = Reporter Han Gap-su] A festival where visitors can enjoy the history and food culture of jajangmyeon will be held in Incheon, the birthplace of Korean-style jajangmyeon. The city of Incheon announced on the 21st that it will host the '2026 Incheon Jajangmyeon Festival' on October 3–4 in Hangmidan-gil, Sangsang Platform, and the Chinatown area of Jemulpo District.
This festival was organized to promote Incheon's jajangmyeon cultural assets and to link tourism resources in the open port area with local commercial districts.
Hangmidan-gil will feature various jajangmyeon tastings, food and beverage brands, and experience and event booths. In Chinatown, traditional Chinese lion and dragon dance parades will take place, and the 'Incheon Easy' GPS stamp tour, in which participants complete missions while visiting major tourist attractions, will also be held.
On October 3, the first day of the festival, Sangsang Platform will host the 'Culture Village' and 'Kids Sangsang Playground' for children and families, as well as a Jajangmyeon Exhibition Hall and an Incheon Store pop-up store. An academic seminar on 'The Current Status and Future Development Directions of Global K-Food Jajangmyeon' will also be held.
At the special stage on Hangmidan-gil, Chef Park Eun-young's live cooking show will begin at 4 p.m., followed by a performance of the musical 'Musical CHEF,' an opening ceremony, and celebratory performances by invited singers. Citizen participation events, including a hand-pulled noodle contest, jajangmyeon-themed recreation activities, and a singing contest, will also be held over the two days.
At 8 p.m. on October 3, the '2026 all nights INCHEON Candlelight Concert' will be held at Sangsang Platform's Wave Hall. Held as part of the 'Korea Bam Bam Festa,' the performance will feature the string quartet 'Ensemble TONES,' which will present 12 songs, including autumn songs, movie OSTs, and Disney music.
Kim Young-shin, director of the International Cooperation Bureau of the City of Incheon, said, "We hope to widely promote the history and culture of jajangmyeon to citizens and tourists and that this will serve as an opportunity to revitalize tourism in the old downtown area, including Chinatown, and local commercial districts."
