Webtoon Entertainment Launches Global Drop with First Title, Releasing New Series in Nine Languages

[Financial News] Webtoon Entertainment has unveiled The Warrior's Ballad, a fantasy webtoon and the first title in its simultaneous global launch project Global Drop, in nine languages. The company aims to expand the reach of webtoon content using the platform infrastructure it has built.
According to industry sources on the 21st, Webtoon Entertainment simultaneously released the title on the 19th in Korean, Japanese, English, French, German, Spanish, Thai, Indonesian, and Traditional Chinese.
Global Drop is a project that simultaneously releases highly anticipated new titles and major comeback works in multiple languages without time differences. This marks the first time Webtoon Entertainment has simultaneously made an officially serialized work available in nine languages.
The Warrior's Ballad is a classic fantasy epic based on the author's novel of the same name by Do Dong-pa. It follows the story of the world's strongest swordmaster, who was used as a tool of war throughout his life and met a miserable death before being reincarnated 100 years later as a boy named Ricart. 
Yeon Go-eun, chief business officer (CBO) of Webtoon Entertainment, said, "Global Drop is an initiative that brings together the platform's capabilities and know-how, as it requires careful coordination and discussion of translation, marketing, operations, and other aspects across nine language regions. By enabling readers around the world to enjoy high-quality works simultaneously, we expect it to produce various positive effects, including protecting creators' earnings and preventing illegal distribution."
Yeon added, "Going forward, Webtoon Entertainment will continue pursuing initiatives that leverage the global infrastructure it has built to enable readers worldwide to enjoy quality works without delays and further expand the reach of webtoon content."
